To those who break 'unjust laws'...

Do you know of someone who has performed an amazing act of bravery, compassion or love? Thank them by letting the world know about their act...

To those who break 'unjust laws'...

To all those - but who I should leave nameless - who break what Gandhi calls 'unjust laws' and put their own freedom on the line in order to free those who never had a choice.

Some laboratories cruelly test on over 30,000 animals per lab per day so we can have lipsticks, deodorants and air fresheners. It is not even considered a factor that they feel pain. Have you ever had a toothache? Multiply that pain by 10 and ask yourself if you would like to feel it? Then ask yourself if you would like to inflict that on others, even if there face doesn't resemble a humans.

It's not for medical research, i'ts for vanity. So stop reading the advertisements that tell you you are ugly, unless you buy their product.

You're not. You probalby don't realise how immensely beautiful you are. Real beauty is not a visual thing, it somes from what something represents. What do you represent?

How do you feel about animal research for medical purposes?

Animal testing

Postby happyinmyskin on Wed Aug 11, 2010 11:26 am

I don't like the idea of animal testing and never ever buy make up that's been tested on animals, that's just awful. If it makes you feel any better there was an article in New Scientist about the welfare of experimental animals. The experimenters themselves approached the ethics people and complained about the number of animals that they were expected to experiment on and the levels of exposure to the substances. Who on earth is actually going to eat a whole can of furniture polish or palette of eyeshadow in real life? Or think "hum I feel ill after eating a lipstick i think i'll eat some more!" They kicked up such a stink because THEY DON'T WANT TO HURT ANIMALS EITHER. About 5 years ago (probably more actually)the scientists succeeded and new laws were introduced that cut the number of animals used to about 9 or 10 (or even fewer) animals per complete product from beginning to end and the dosage of product is vastly reduced and often used on skin (or other tissue) grown from a graft so the actual animal is never dosed. Nobody likes the idea of all this but my dad was kept alive for years with treatment for squamous carcinoma and I was grown up when he finally died. Personally I think my wonderful, funny, strong, clever dad is worth six rats and I will always be grateful to the animals that unkowingly went into the dark for this. They wouldn't try any of the experiments on me even tho I offered and for your further information was a human guinea pig myself for 3 years so there.
