Busycles

A busycle or cycle bus could be free to use. In order to build them we are going to need a workshop with all the equipment in it, and mechanics/engineers to build them. Let me know if you are interested (you should all be). It is my hope that we will have thousands of these engineless buses around the country in a few years, and also various other buses with engines that don't use fossil fuels but maybe wood instead. We need people interested in growing the wood too. I have asked my local group, that's Swansea, Wales, UK to host volunteers who come here to help. We so far have one yes and one maybe. Others might want to do similar things but not here. That's fine, just let me know.

Looks hilarious and a right old bit of fun ... only problem is if it was like a normal bus where you hop on and off then at times when the driver is just setting off or there's no customers for a bit he wouldn't be able to provide all the pedal power!!

Hi Adam,

No-one knows how it would work. We need to experiment to find out. I have some ideas I want to try out once I have a suitable workshop. If a group of dedicated muscle men and women took turns at powering the bus then others could hop on and off as they liked. We would hope that everyone would lend a hand or a foot. There could be a variety of different ways to input power to exercise different parts of the body. A flywheel could store power to make it easy to set off. It could store energy from slowing down and going downhill too. Such a sophisticated bus would require skill in design and implementation. Once built it would need a skilled driver too. If one design can be perfected then many buses can be built and operated, if there is the will.
