G'day from Far Nth Qld Australia

Hello,
I love the idea of a freeconomy, and whilst I still go to paid work, have bills to pay and participate in the regular commercial world I try and integrate alternatives into my life where possible, of course I would like to increase that component.
Here are some of the things I do
I am a member of LETS (Local Energy Trading Scheme) using an alternative currency for trading goods and services - this month we got a chest freezer, and as we have a weekend business selling food at markets we offer LETS members a deal where they can pay partly in alternative currency. And this afternoon I am heading out to get some banana tree trunks which I make into baskets the trunks are being given to me via another LETS member.
I am a member of Freecycle and have given and recieved some wonderful items, last month I got a kayak and a fridge..amazing.
I am a member of couchsurfing.org and have hosted folk from all over the world, making lifelong friends and when and if I travel I can have free accommodation, but I just love having people come and visit us the most.
I am a member of bookcrossing and have tagged and released several books, not yet found one, but as more an more people become members I am sure it will happen.
When we move from our current abode we will host WWOOFers as we did at our last residence.
I am a member of the local Seed Savers group, where seeds are saved and shared, to promote biodiversity, food supply safety and organic gardening.
I grow quite a bit of our own food, even though our garden area is the size of most living rooms and our landlord doesn't want permanent gardens made so I do it in poly boxes and strawbales.
I scavenge at the local rubbish tip when possible, and give away items that might be of use to someone else even if they are not of use to me.
Even though our efforts are very small, even in a regular commercial life it is possible to incorporate a few things to enrich life.
bye for now
Lou
